Workshop Description

Learn how to employ “ekphrasis,” the craft of using vivid description to narrate or describe a scene, action, painting, sculpture, music, movie, and/or literary work. Participants will learn techniques for creating written responses to several forms of art as well as opportunities for publication. Sessions include generative prompts, writing activities, and constructive feedback. Discover the magic—the change in perspective once the ekphrastic conversation begins!

Comments

It was a fantastic class and I wish it had gone on for much longer! Instructive. Generative. Supportive. Fun.

Dawn was a magnificent facilitator, and I appreciated all of her suggestions as well as the group's overall responses and thoughtfulness.

Dawn is one of the most affirming & supportive writing coaches I have worked with; her gentle feedback and encouragement allowed me to thrive as a writer. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun with practical instruction, but also good doses of laughter and playfulness.
