Introduction to Write the Story of Your Life (FREE)
Learn how to write the story of your life with the Guided Autobiography method, which uses life themes as a way to explore your stories – two pages at a time. In this free one-hour class, you will get a taste of the themes, in-class activities, and exercises used in our six-week Write the Story of Your Life workshop. Memoir sessions are interactive and conducted in an environment of mutual support and respect. No previous writing experience is necessary.
Level 1
Write the story of your life two pages at a time! Create a memoir or written legacy and navigate life transitions through the medium of story. Each session is designed to create a comfortable environment for students of all levels. Guided prompts and weekly questions spark creativity, trigger memories, and help you structure your writing. This is a generative workshop offering positive feedback, not critique. Through developing and sharing weekly two-page vignettes, writers build a body of work and receive supportive encouragement along the way. Writers find motivation, material, and a framework for expanding their pieces. No previous writing experience is necessary.
Level 2
This bi-weekly, five-session class is for participants who have completed Level 1. Level 2 continues the Guided Autobiography writing process, exploring your life through new themes, in-class activities, and delving into writing craft. As in “Write the Story of Your Life” level 1, participants will share their weekly two-page vignettes in small groups in an atmosphere of mutual support and encouragement.
Level 3
This monthly, five-session class is for people who have completed level 2 and want to continue their writing journey. Are there gaps in your memoir that you want to fill in? Are there areas that you want to explore? Participants will be provided with new themes, including those designed for works in progress. This group provides structure and encouragement in a supportive environment.

Workshop Facilitator
Julie Feibush's career has spanned professional writing, research, and editing in many forms. As a certified Guided Autobiography Instructor from the Birren Center of Autobiographical Studies, Julie turns her lifelong interest in the craft of writing towards helping others cultivate their own writing practice. Since 2020, Julie has taught over 100 students in memoir classes and workshops.
