Persephone's Truth, Marie Kane's third poetry collection, brings Persephone to life; the poems are loosely based on the Greek myth of Persephone. Hades, Minthe, Charon, Demeter, and even Persephone's therapist have roles to play in the poems. Stephen Millner, Kane's husband and an accomplished artist, provides mixed media art inspired by the myth. Millner's art complements and even expands the poems' meaning. This chapbook offers a creative and unusual examination of the life of the goddess Persephone as she, reluctantly at first, then wholeheartedly, becomes Queen of the Underworld.

Marie Kane is a three-time Pushcart Prize nominee. Her poetry has appeared in the Bellevue Literary Review, Adanna Journal, Wordgathering, The Meadowland Review, and many others. Kane has published one full-length book and two chapbooks. She has placed second in the international New Hampshire Poetry Society contest. She is the 2006 Pennsylvania Bucks County Poet Laureate, and the final judge for two scholastic poetry contests—one regional, one national.  Kane and her husband, artist Stephen Millner, were awarded the Muse of Bucks County award in 2017 for their many contributions to the literary community of Bucks County. They live in Yardley, PA.
