The Slow Separations is a meditation, a lullaby, on the mysteries of life and its relationships on consciousness: the real and the imagined, the nature of change, of the commonplace. From the title poem, in which a grass blade’s cut leads to a meditation on “the rift between things and their impressions,” to the last line of the book (“The children do not answer”), these poems both praise and ponder existence and impermanence in all its forms.

Julie Cooper-Fratrik, Achievement Grant in poetry (Leeway Foundation, Philadelphia), MFA from Goddard - VT College. Collections: The Slow Separations, Breathing Lessons (a remembering), and Further Lovely Lettuce Lore (from Anna’s salad days).
