Creativity has no boundaries...

Workshops

River Heron Review offers online and on site creative writing workshops throughout the year. Our one-session, online introductory workshops meet on Saturday mornings and are limited to six writers. Our online 4-week series workshops are offered on Wednesday evenings and are limited to five writers. On site workshops are offered in Lahaska, (Monday mornings) and in New Hope, (Monday evenings), Pennsylvania and are limited to ten participants. All writers, whether beginning or established, are welcome.

Our workshops are conducted according to the Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) method. This method emphasizes the existence of creative genius in each person and allows all writers to discover their own voice within any genre or genres with which they are comfortable. This is accomplished through consistent workshop-based writing and feedback.

All writing used in our workshops is done on site, so participants will leave each session with first drafts, including commentary.  Writers will write to prompts designed to hone voice, craft, and their creative sense. Feedback is given in a positive manner and emphasizes the strengths within the writing. We have found that over the course of a series, writers generate a significant amount of new work while also improving their use of voice and craft.

We hope you will join us at one of our workshops. If you are seeking an encouraging environment in which to write and a supportive writing community in which to offer and receive feedback, our writing workshops are for you.  Come write with us!
