Although the moment of this poem – the actual circumstance —is many years past, the images— that moon, blue-black darkness, wide window— have stayed with me. I admit to being in such want of a poem sometimes that I work it into ruins. I have been trying to learn this lesson. I waited for this poem and it showed me a way in and a way through. But in its own time.
