Maliká Duff is a 76-year-old disabled transgender woman who writes from the margins, where she lives and expects to die. Her poems are shaped by the numinous interaction between living and dying. Maliká herself has died three times and returned. Her doc calls them “syncopal episodes.” Her lived experience as a transgender woman further embeds her writing in the borderlands. Maliká is on hospice care.
