“Psalm 144: Crusader” is drawn from a larger project-in-progress that explores the reception and reuse of the biblical book of Psalms by readers across time and religious traditions by rereading and rewriting the original Hebrew poems with later commentaries and reimaginings in mind —  a process of deliberately slanted translation.
