I wrote this right at the cusp of Spring last year— in those gray, winter-spent weeks before anything turned green or hopeful—while thinking about the ways weariness, devotion, and an almost holy sense of mystery coexist in a long relationship. The line about hearing the ocean in the old landlocked trees is one of my darlings, and one of my favorite sounds on my frequent woodland walks.
